Simply Meant to Be

"Jack, please, I'm only an elected official here, I can't make decisions by myself!"

So my Sally costume was a hit! It took me a long time to finish but in the end was certainly worth all of the work. The day of comic-con i broke out the liquid latex to paint my skin, which stayed on well but was rather painful when it decided to stick to itself... and getting it off at the end of the day was like pulling Band-Aids off.... ouch. But it looked awesome! I used eyeliner to make all of the scars and it stayed on the liquid latex well.

So the other person in the photo above is my younger brother, Tommy. He's dressed up as oogie boogie. It was very much a last minute costume so it isn't quite as good as i hoped it would turn out, as you can see by the lack of covers over his shoes.... i ran out of fabric and i was finishing it the night before comic-con so there was no way to make more. I also would have liked to spend more time on the mask, but like i said the time was limited.

While i'm here, let me show you my other costumes from comic-con!

On Saturday i went as Alice from Alice in Wonderland, and a friend of mine went as the mad hatter. I'm obviously not blond, so i tried to make do with a wig. The dress i'm wearing i found at a thrift store a few months back, and i made the bow and the apron with some scrap fabric i had around the house.

And on the final day of comic-con i went as Kim Pine, the drummer from Sex Bo-omb in Scott Pilgrim. I even got to meet Bryan Lee O'Malley, the author of SP which was awesome! The whole outfit came from a local thriftstore, and i made the sign. I cut the wig myself, which was somewhat outside of my comfort zone as i don't typically cut hair, but it came out pretty good for the character. I stole my boyfriends drumsticks to complete the costume!

All in all, i would say comic-con was a pretty epic weekend.
